Il have Russel and Violet Badcock in my family tree. Their sons Delden and Thomas Allan. I need to follow back from my grandfather George Badcock Dec 23 -1882 to 14-6-1965 see how they are related
Thanks for sharing. I confirmed about a week before Armistice Centenary, that my biological Great Grandfather isn’t who he is thought to have been.
My Great Grandfather is Henry Charles Banfield, who was killed in action on 29 July 1916, Pozieres, France. Russel was the last person with him, as he mentions in his account of his escape as a POW – which was quite moving to read. Russel states that he saw my Great Grandfather Henry being shot dead. Henry’s name is inscribed at the Ulverstone Cenotaph.
Perhaps very few people knew, that Henry had a pregnant 18 year old girlfriend back in Tasmania, who was raised by another man, who went on to have 21 children. So, Henry, thought to be lost without descendants — has many descendants today.
Russel’s escape, to me, is a miracle.
