History Over Dinner started in February 2020 when historian and author Ivan Badcock visited his daughter, Bec Badcock, in Sydney from Tasmania.
Ivan expressed the sentiment that living so far apart made it difficult to gather for traditional weekly family dinners, where stories used to be passed from one generation to the next.

Over the years, Ivan has written many articles, some featured in various publications and others shared with his children, hoping they might one day publish them as a book.
Bec knew very little about publishing a book but much about the digital world, so she decided to help her father by setting up the next best thing—a website to share stories.
Bringing together their different passions, Ivan and Bec continue to share stories on History Over Dinner with future generations so they aren’t lost.

Many of the articles are about local Tasmanian characters’ from the past and present. We hope you enjoy reading as much as we enjoy writing and sharing them.
